Plain N' Fancy - Kansas

Middle America can loose it's appeal when driving hundreds of miles reveals nothing but corn or open range. We found Kansas to be the exception where empty rolling plains are replaced with mile after mile of Sunflower fields. A very helpful volunteer at the Information Center directed us to this field, planted and inviting with no fence to keep us photographers out. My original idea of a closeup with honeybees feeding on the center fell flat compared to this stunning Monarch Butterfly.
